Hello, World! It’s been a while. As such, I don’t want to keep you from the good stuff: the Meat ‘n’ Potatoes of this blog (sans both meat and potatoes): THE CIDER SITCH.
THE AFOREMENTIONED CIDER SITCH:
Thistly Cross Real Ginger Cider
State of Matter: Liquid.
Ingredients: Apple juice & ginger root juice.
Origin: Scotland (Dunbar, specifically).
The Taste: Ok. So. This stuff is tasty. You can totally taste the ginger. No spice though, which is disappointing. Good mix of flavours. Sweet but not too sweet. Not cloying.
The Mouthfeel: Low carbonation. Almost flat?
The Nose: Fresh. Gingery (obvs).
The Colour: Pale yellow. Like real apple juice!
The Packaging: Terrible. I feel like they were going for a fun/bold graphic style but it –like the mouthfeel– falls a little flat. The balance is off, and something about it feels dated somehow.
The Final Verdict: Eminently forgettable, unfortunately. To be fair, I had preconceived notions of what this cider should be. I can’t really fault it for not being as I imagined it would (going off of nothing but the label), but then again, that’s how most people base their decisions so… I don’t feel too bad. I wanted it to be spicy! Something that’d warm you up on a crisp fall day. Like a nice heather-y scotch. It was: gingery, not very cidery, not very spicy. Dang.
Have you tried it? What’d you think? Let me know in the comments below.
