I AM SO EXCITED TO BE TRYING THIS RIGHT NOW, YOU GUYS. Strictly speaking, Angry Orchard isn’t available for sale in the province yet [Update: as of the fall of 2014, Angry Orchard is available in Alberta. Yay!] So, I kind of feel special drinking this. That being said, it should be available for mass purchase/consumption within the next few months or so.
To the stats!
The Taste: Sweet. Not cloying. Not thick or syrupy (I know those aren’t descriptors of taste. Shut up.) It’s more like there’s a hint of apples than, like, a tonne of apple flavour. It’s kind of like S’bow… but unlike S’bow, it’s sweet. There isn’t much tartness/sourness to it, yet it’s crisp enough to balance out the sweet.
Hello, World! It’s been a while. As such, I don’t want to keep you from the good stuff: the Meat ‘n’ Potatoes of this blog (sans both meat and potatoes): THE CIDER SITCH.
THE AFOREMENTIONED CIDER SITCH:
Thistly Cross Real Ginger Cider
Percentage: 4.0%
Gluten-free: Yes.
State of Matter: Liquid.
Ingredients: Apple juice & ginger root juice.
Origin: Scotland (Dunbar, specifically).
The Taste: Ok. So. This stuff is tasty. You can totally taste the ginger. No spice though, which is disappointing. Good mix of flavours. Read on, Macduff…
It looks S’bowy.
It smells S’bowy.
But…does it taste S’bowy? And, more importantly, what the hell is S’bowy?
I’mma tell you straight up: this comes across as a Strongbow analog.
William Premium Cider‘s mouthfeel is a little different. It’s nicely carbonated (although if you’d asked me after my first sip, I probably would’ve said “aggressively carbonated.” That has more to do with sneezing upon taking a sip than the amount of carbonation, really. My nose hurts.) There’s a lingering “thickness” after you swallow. Read on, Macduff…
